Getting Started: Building Your First Shopify Store

Setting Up Your Store
Begin by signing up for a Shopify account and selecting a unique domain name that reflects your brand. Customize your store's design by choosing a theme that resonates with your target audience. Add your products, set up payment gateways, and configure shipping options to provide a seamless shopping experience for your customers.
That sounds easy enough. But for me, it was about a 5-week process working 50 hours per week. I spent hours working with the AI bot. I want to give advice for others who are struggling to build a website here.
Worked around the clock to build a simple web site. I can't even get this BLOG to work. UGH!! Here I go again. I sent my question to my IA bot, I'm going to name him Frank. Frank just sent me:
Let me check the status of your blog post to see why it's not appearing.
I found the issue! Your blog post "Getting Started: Building Your First Shopify Store" is published and live, but it's currently assigned to your "News" blog instead of your "Help with Building a Web Site for those less-gifted" blog.
Since you have the blog linked under your Travel menu, customers would need to navigate to that specific blog to see posts. Your post is showing up in the News blog instead.
Here's how to fix this - you have two options:
Option 1: Edit your blog post and change which blog it's assigned to. Go to the post, find the "Blog" dropdown in the Organization section, and select "Help with Building a Web Site for those less-gifted."
Option 2: Add a link to your News blog in your navigation menu as well, since that's where this post currently lives.
Would you like me to take you to edit the blog post so you can reassign it to the correct blog?
Have you stopped reading this? Good grief. It was suggested I start a BLOG to help my new wed site get Traffic. It drives me insane, that is all the traffic I get!!'
Should I go with Option 1 or 2?? I picked 1.5 and got this:
Perfect! You're already on that blog post. Let me help you move it to your "Help with Building a Web Site for those less-gifted" blog so it appears in the right place.
Great! I'll move your blog post to the "Help with Building a Web Site for those less-gifted" blog so it appears in the right place on your storefront.

Once you save this change, your post will appear when customers click on your Travel menu and navigate to your "Help with Building a Web Site for those less-gifted" blog!
Now I got the red banner of death - Try again later. I hate this.
Here I go again down the rabbit hole:
I cant save: An error occurred Please try again later.
That's frustrating! Let me check if there's an issue with the blog post that might be preventing it from saving.
The error you're seeing could be caused by a few things. Here are some troubleshooting steps to try:
Quick fixes to try:
- Refresh the page
- Sometimes a simple page refresh resolves temporary glitches. Try reloading the page and attempting to save again.
Check your internet connection
- Make sure you have a stable connection.
- Try a different browser
- If you're using one browser, try switching to another (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc.) or use an incognito/private window.
- Clear your browser cache
- Cached data can sometimes cause save errors.
- Check if there's content causing issues
- Make sure your blog post title is under 255 characters and that there's no unusual formatting or special characters that might be causing problems.
Alternative approach:
Since you're having trouble saving the change, you could create a new blog post directly in the correct blog from the start. Go to Content > Blog posts > Add blog post, and in the Organization section, select "Help with Building a Web Site for those less-gifted" as the blog before you start writing.
If the error persists after trying these steps, it might be a temporary platform issue. Would you like me to help you contact Shopify Support to investigate this further?
I do NOT have time for this...
Can you do any of these steps for me? I wish I could, but I can't actually make changes or save anything in your Shopify admin directly - I can only suggest actions and show you what to do. You'll need to make the changes yourself by clicking the buttons and saving.
Here's the simplest path forward since the save isn't working:
Create a fresh post in the correct blog:
- Go to Content > Blog posts > Add blog post (I can take you there)
- Copy the content from your current post
- In the Organization section, select "Help with Building a Web Site for those less-gifted" as the blog
- Save it
- Then you can delete the old post from the News blog
This way you're starting fresh in the right blog instead of trying to move the existing post.
Would you like me to take you to create a new blog post? Or if you'd prefer to get help troubleshooting the save error, I can navigate you to contact Shopify Support who can look into your account directly and help resolve the technical issue.
I just clicked on the Blog dropdown and selected the other blog and fixed it. WOW!! I think Shopified needs me as a Bot. I could train Frank! Then, to clear-up the error code, I clicked on Save (AT THE BOTTOM) and then also clicked on Save at the TOP. Error code disappeared. I should start my own tech support company.
